Summer Sounds

The days are long and mostly bright. It’s the time of year to catch fireflies, relax by the pool, run wild and free. These are the days that we supposedly long for and should cherish all our lives. I can’t tell you how many songs and books idealize and encapsulate the liveliness of this season that make us feel a sense of nostalgia for summers past and fantasize about future sunny days. However, it’s inching closer and closer to August as we speak, which means soon enough students will be going back to school and summer will basically be over.

By this time of the year, I begin to think about fall: the fashion, the music, the change of the season, the amount of apple cider I’ll be drinking… Despite my yearning for cooler weather so that I can wear sweaters once again, I continue to relish in the opportunities summer prevents. One of my favorite things to do as the seasons change is to create a playlist that captures the feeling of that particular season. I have been revising my summer playlist since April and I am still changing it bit by bit. I’ve been wanting to share it for a while now but I couldn’t quite figure out how to add a Spotify playlist. Now that I have figured it out, I have for you my summer playlist. I will probably continue to add more songs, maybe even take some off, but it will be up for the rest of the summer.

My musical taste is very dynamic. During the fall/winter I really enjoy slower music.  I listen to a lot of folk and indie music in the slower days of the year. Summer and spring, however, is the time that I really enjoy pop music I find and a lot of the music they play on the radio. A lot of it is higher energy and are so fun to sing along to while I’m driving. So, these songs in the playlist are just the ones that are uplifting for me when the weather is warm and the sky is bright. I hope you all enjoy this playlist. I plan to post other playlists that I really enjoy. I will definitely be posting my fall playlist as soon as I finish it, that’s usually the one I love the most anyway so keep your eyes peeled for that one.
