Simple Excitement

Today is an exciting day for many reasons. Firstly, it is my sister’s 15th birthday which makes me feel old and weird because I can’t believe my baby sister is getting older. Especially because there’s only a year until she learns to drive and I am not prepared for that. But on top of that, I am doing something incredible, wonderful, and humbling tomorrow. I don’t want to say yet what it is, but I can say that I know it’s going to something that impacts me greatly. As soon as the day is over, I will definitely  write a post about it. I can say this…

Bigger & Better Things

I have had many days within the last few months where I felt uncertain in the most painful way. Days where I felt I was wasting my time, days where I was motivated but felt stuck, days where everything seemed to be going downhill at 100 mph and I simply could not stop it. If I’m being honest though, I’ve had a lot of those days over the years. It’s especially difficult when I find myself constantly comparing myself to others around my age. Yes, I am doing more than some people but I am seeing all these people that are doing things that make this strange sort of jealousy come up from the pit of my stomach. I feel that I am simply not doing enough for my future career or for the world at large.

What I Learned My Freshman Year

I dreamt of the day I would graduate and move on to somewhere bigger and better in this world for years. From the minute I entered high school, four years ago, I was thinking about where I would go, who I would meet, and ultimately who I would become. All that dreaming did not prepare me at all for the real experience. Once I had found a school I loved and finally graduated, I spent all of the summer months impatiently awaiting my arrival to campus. Looking back on it now, it was a moment of intense excitement as well as apprehension.
