Planting & Plotting

Friday afternoon planting and some big ideas!

Yesterday was my first day back from the beach and let me just say, nothing felt better than walking into my room knowing I could shut the door allowing me to be by myself. I tried to be as productive as possible but how productive can you be when most of your day was spent in a car? However, what I did get done can be summed up with two words: planting & plotting.

PLANTING & PLOTTING

I’ve had an aloe plant for maybe two years now and I never replanted it. I knew it was so, so bad for my plant but it never seemed to be unhealthy so I kept putting it off and putting it off. I’ve had some accidents with it in the past year; it’s gotten knocked off of so many windowsills causing it to lose over  half of its soil but it continued to thrive anyway. My mom bought me this relatively big blue pot a year ago with section of it painted with chalkboard paint. I loved it but just never decided what to plant in it.

Then one day this summer I decided I needed to just replant the aloe in that pot but then I realized that the blue of the pot did not match the ideal aesthetic of my room. I am very much into blacks, whites, grays, and some golds so if it has color I’m usually not a fan. So I went to walmart one day with my sister & bought two little tubes of black acrylic paint and came home that same day to repaint the pot. I  didn’t repaint the chalkboard section because I just wanted to repaint over the blue. I knew there was soil that my mom had recently bought for me to replant it so it was just a matter of getting it done.

I finally replanted it yesterday and I’m so mad that I didn’t do it sooner because it literally only took me five minutes and now it looks so much cuter. I know now that my plant will definitely continue to live for years without me worrying. My next task is to plant my succulents and cacti into a small glass terrarium I bought a bit ago at hobby lobby for only $12 which is a huge steal! I needed to buy horticulture charcoal which I couldn’t find anywhere and I also needed pebbles. I thought the soil I had would work but it’s not the right kind so I have to buy that now too! I did order the charcoal and the pebbles online yesterday which will both come in the mail on Monday unless UPS delivers them to my house Sunday like amazon promised. I’ll post about my terrarium once it’s finally finished!

Here is the after. It looks so much better and only one part of the plant is leaning to one side!
Here is the before picture. My aloe was leaning to one side of the pot for months.

As far as plotting goes, I am so full of ideas for what the next chapter of my life holds. I am planning a day or two to go to my favorite coffee shop for a few hours to get a ton of final work done for my internship, spruce up this blog, and make a regimented schedule for myself for the upcoming school year. I am so excited for the changes I have coming and I can’t wait to share them with you all! Big things are going to be happening in my life and in this blog so make sure to follow on wordpress or by email to keep up with my posts!
