Today is an exciting day for many reasons. Firstly, it is my sister’s 15th birthday which makes me feel old and weird because I can’t believe my baby sister is getting older. Especially because there’s only a year until she learns to drive and I am not prepared for that. But on top of that, I am doing something incredible, wonderful, and humbling tomorrow. I don’t want to say yet what it is, but I can say that I know it’s going to something that impacts me greatly. As soon as the day is over, I will definitely write a post about it. I can say this…
I have the most amazing internship in the world. I am interning with an organization that is doing incredible things not only locally but on a larger scale. I am “managing” the social media accounts for Someone To Tell It To as well as helping to develop ideas for expansion. On a simple level, I am thrilled to be doing these tasks because I am enjoying it so much. I love developing these ideas that are turning into tangible actions.
Beyond the day to day tasks I am doing, I am so passionate about the healing they are creating for the people that open themselves up to them. They share vulnerability and they create an inviting space for others to share their joy, their pain, their suffering, their thoughts. The kindness and love they have in their hearts that have led them to creating this organization brings me so much joy and fulfillment.
The first time I met Michael and Tom (the founders of Someone To Tell It To) I listened to them tell stories about some of the people they’ve met and they spoke with such passion about what people have shared with them. They spoke humbly about themselves and about what they do, but I was inspired and moved. Right there in that Starbucks I knew that I had found my start. My calling even. Each time I meet with them I leave feeling even more enthusiastic and full of joy than before I met with them.
It’s so wonderful to share ideas and excitement with other people who are just as passionate about hearing people’s stories as I am. The nonjudgemental, compassionate listening and the love that they provide touches my heart. I’m just happy to be walking and working alongside of these incredible men. I want to work with them for the rest of my life and that is what I intend to do.
I cannot wait to see the way they expand over the next couple of months as well as over the next few years. They have so much in store that will bring good to all those they come in contact with. I am a lucky girl to be working with them and witnessing healing and love transform people’s lives. I am blessed to have met them and I am very excited about the things in store for the rest of the summer.
